We're MDL — a Portland-area managed IT services team. We've been here since 2001 — a quarter-century in the Portland metro, and longer than most of the IT companies serving this market today. The way we work hasn't changed: calm, steady, and close to the practices we support. We're not the biggest MSP in Portland. We're the one independent practice owners keep for years.

We handle IT for small healthcare and healthcare-adjacent practices across the Portland metro. The work covers help desk, backups and disaster recovery, patch and update cadence, HIPAA and Oregon-specific compliance, vendor coordination with practice management software providers, imaging device integration, and the workstation refresh planning most practices don't get around to until something breaks.

Our work today covers four healthcare verticals in the Portland metro: dental and orthodontic practices (our oldest vertical, supported through our Ortho-IT DBA), optometry practices, veterinary practices, and behavioral health practices. What ties them together: independent owner-operators with 5–20 PCs, HIPAA-regulated, and reliant on software stacks the average IT generalist doesn't know.

We spent fifteen years supporting an independent Portland optometry practice end-to-end — from a single location through equipment migrations, PMS upgrades, HIPAA pressure, and the daily work of keeping a practice running, until the owner sold to a corporate group and retired. That depth doesn't transfer to a brochure, but it transfers to the work.
